    Description

Empowered Partners is a volunteer based program through the Area Agency on Aging of Broward County (AAABC) that matches Student Volunteers with Senior Partners to provide them with companionship and help with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs).

Not only is the goal of this program to help reduce the social isolation of at-risk older adults in our community, but it also allows our Student Volunteers to form meaningful relationships while also providing the experience of working with the older adult population.

If you are a student pursuing an education in a health care related field this would be a great opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and interest in elder care while building your resume through volunteer experience.

    Qualifications Include:

    • Must currently be enrolled in Health Professions or related college courses (Biology, Pre Med, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Etc.)
    • Have access to reliable transportation
    • Must participate in the AAABC’s training and orientation process
    • Willingness to travel within a 20 mile radius
    • Time commitment of 3hrs per week with your Senior Partner
