    Description

Hours that mean something, because a kid is on the other end of them.

Lumi Learning is a free 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a 2026 Anthem Awards finalist. Our volunteer tutors are high school students who meet one K-8 student online each week and help them build skills and confidence in reading and math. Every session is tracked automatically in your portal, and we sign hour forms for NHS, Key Club, Beta Club, honor cords, graduation requirements, and scholarship applications.

Here is the honest version. This is not a drop-in shift. You commit to one fixed 30-minute slot a week for a semester, and a real family builds their week around it. Tutors who keep that promise earn more than hours. They earn a letter from us, first access to leadership roles, and a line on their resume that holds up in an interview.

    What You Get

    • Automatically tracked hours and signed forms within 48 hours of asking
    • Training before your first session and a plan for every session after it
    • A letter from Lumi Learning on request after one semester

    Who Fits

    • Current US high school student, grades 9 to 12
    • Strong in K-8 reading or math
    • Able to keep one weekly slot all semester and respond to messages within a day
