    Description

VITAS invites you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of terminally ill veterans. Whether or not you’re a veteran yourself, you can bring comfort, companionship, and support to those who have served our country.

What Do Veteran Volunteers Do? Veteran Volunteers receive special training to meet the unique needs of veterans at the end of life. They may:

Visit veterans in their homes, nursing facilities, assisted living communities, or VA medical centers

Provide transportation or accompany veterans to appointments and events

Assist with applying for benefits or replacing lost military medals

            Record life stories or reminiscences

Make check-in calls to offer support

Help plan or participate in Memorial Day and Veterans Day events
