Description
- New Vision Organization is a 501 (C) (4) nonprofit Organization, advocating for incarcerated first-time offenders of any offense who are serving Life and Life Without Parole. NVO networks with Organizations and Groups who works with both people in the community. The FFIMI Steering Committee holds monthly virtual meetings which focus on ways to accomplish a mission by: Exploring collaborative opportunities - Supporting ideas and articles for the FFIMI Newsletter and Blog - Planning agenda for quarterly meetings of the MHJI-FAC Mental Health - Justice-Involved Family Advisory Council - Identifying legislative priorities to support - Role of a FFIMI Steering Committee Member - Attend monthly virtual meetings. Contribute to discussion, ideas, solutions, and action to support mission - Be an active contributor on the committee (i.e. write letters. meetings, interact with legislators, government officials, media as needs arise. FFIMI 2025 Goals- Open a dialogue with Governor Maura Healy and help her to understand and hopefully address concerns related to individuals with mental health issues who are justice involved. Identify other groups to join/align/collaborate with around legislation
- Work with legislators to introduce and support legislature - FFIMI Mission: To ensure that justice-involved people who suffer from mental illness are provided a continuum of proper and humane psychiatric care, medical treatment and clinical services across the entire spectrum of the legal and justice system. A FFIMI Priority: FFIMI advocates for Bridgewater State Hospital to be placed under the Department of Mental Health NOT the Department of Correction.
