About Carboncopies Foundation

The Carboncopies Foundation is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the science and technology of whole brain emulation - the process of transferring the structure and functions of a brain from its original substrate to another computational substrate of a neural prosthesis. Founded by neuroscientists and technologists, we serve as a nexus for research collaboration, education, and public discourse on the path toward preserving and extending human cognition.

Our work spans multiple disciplines including neuroscience, computer science, nanotechnology, and philosophy. Through workshops, webinars, publications, and community building, we bring together researchers, students, and enthusiasts who share our vision of developing technologies that may one day allow for the precise mapping and functional recreation of neural architectures. We are seeking an experienced React Developer to help us build new features and improvements to a web-based tool for visualizing a science/technology roadmap.

The goal of this roadmap visualization tool is to allow anonymous users to view all of the milestones required to achieve a research goal, including various kinds of information about each milestone:

• Success criteria
• Current researchers or labs
• Time/money cost estimates
• Risks

The roadmap visualization tool also enables authenticated users to log in and add/remove/modify milestones in the roadmap.

Your role would be to work with other React developers to help us implement new features in the application frontend, troubleshoot and fix React issues, and improve existing functionality in the frontend.

You would:

• Contribute to architecture, design, and development of the application
• Participate in weekly calls, emails, and team chats to discuss progress

Requirements:

• 3 years of Javascript experience and knowledge working with React or 1 year of experience in a full time role working primarily with React development.

Time Commitment:

• 1 hour weekly team meeting
• 1 hour weekly organization meeting
• Approximately 15 - 20 hours / week with flexibility on scheduling options
• At least 6 months (longer preferred)
