Joining our Advisory Board means becoming part of a mission-driven team recognized for real social impact, where your expertise can shape strategy, scale programs, and touch thousands of lives. You’ll help amplify our voice, open doors to new opportunities, and leave a lasting legacy in the fight against homelessness, all with a minimal time commitment of just 30 minutes per quarter over a 2-year term.

    ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking volunteer Advisory Board members across six key areas of expertise. Advisory Board members provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and advocacy to help TWI maximise its impact, strengthen its governance, and expand its reach across Nigeria and beyond.

🧠 ADVISORY ROLES WE ARE RECRUITING FOR

We are specifically looking for individuals with experience in the following areas:

    ⚙️ OPERATIONS AND STRATEGY ADVISOR

Expertise in organisational structure, systems, and operational efficiency

Ability to strengthen program delivery, coordination, and scalability

Experience building or improving operational frameworks in growing organisations

Particularly valuable if: You have experience building systems and structures in early stage, grassroots, or nonprofit organisations where resources are limited but ambition is not.

    💰 FUNDRAISING AND PARTNERSHIPS ADVISOR

Experience in securing grants, corporate CSR partnerships, or individual donor programmes

Active network of funders, corporates, or foundations in Nigeria or internationally

Ability to unlock funding opportunities and strategic collaborations that TWI cannot currently access alone

Particularly valuable if: You have an active network of decision makers at foundations, corporations, or funding bodies and are willing to make introductions on TWI's behalf.

    📣 COMMUNICATIONS AND BRAND ADVISOR

Background in media, storytelling, public relations, or digital marketing

Ability to amplify TWI's visibility, messaging, and campaigns

Experience running campaigns for social causes or community organisations

Particularly valuable if: You have media contacts, an existing platform or audience, or have run campaigns that created measurable visibility for a cause or organisation.

🤝 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL IMPACT ADVISOR

Experience working directly with homeless populations, displaced persons, women in crisis, or children in underserved communities

Ability to guide program design and ensure relevance, dignity, and real world impact

Deep understanding of what vulnerable communities in Nigeria actually need

Particularly valuable if: You have been on the ground and understand the gap between what programs promise and what communities actually experience.

⚖️ GOVERNANCE LEGAL AND COMPLIANCE ADVISOR

Expertise in nonprofit governance, board structure, and organisational accountability

Experience reviewing contracts, MOUs, and partnership agreements

Knowledge of Nigerian nonprofit regulations, beneficiary protection policies, and data privacy standards

Ability to advise on employment law as TWI transitions toward paid staff

Familiarity with international funder governance requirements

Particularly valuable if: You are a legal professional, governance specialist, or compliance expert who understands the regulatory and structural requirements facing growing Nigerian nonprofits.

    📊 FINANCE AND AUDIT ADVISOR

Background in accounting, financial management, audit, or nonprofit financial reporting

Ability to review TWI's financial systems, income and expenditure reports, and annual accounts

Experience supporting organisations through their first financial audit or establishing bookkeeping systems

Understanding of donor financial reporting requirements and grant compliance

Ability to advise on financial sustainability and long term revenue diversification

Particularly valuable if: You are a financial professional accountant, auditor, or CFO who can help build the financial credibility needed to attract institutional funding.

    📌 RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic guidance on programs and long term growth

Support fundraising, partnerships, and high level engagement

Mentor the Founder and leadership team

Attend one 30 minute meeting per quarter

Experienced professionals who want to apply their expertise for impact

Individuals with strong networks willing to open doors

Builders excited about growing a mission driven organisation

Passionate changemakers committed to ending homelessness

    WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

Leadership Experience: Influence strategy and high-level decisions for a growing nonprofit
