The Warmth Initiative is a fast-growing nonprofit tackling homelessness and housing instability in Nigeria. We restore dignity, hope, and stability to vulnerable individuals and families through innovative programs, community outreach, and sustainable solutions.
Joining our Advisory Board means becoming part of a mission-driven team recognized for real social impact, where your expertise can shape strategy, scale programs, and touch thousands of lives. You’ll help amplify our voice, open doors to new opportunities, and leave a lasting legacy in the fight against homelessness, all with a minimal time commitment of just 30 minutes per quarter over a 2-year term.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking volunteer Advisory Board members across six key areas of expertise. Advisory Board members provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and advocacy to help TWI maximise its impact, strengthen its governance, and expand its reach across Nigeria and beyond.
🧠 ADVISORY ROLES WE ARE RECRUITING FOR
We are specifically looking for individuals with experience in the following areas:
⚙️ OPERATIONS AND STRATEGY ADVISOR
Expertise in organisational structure, systems, and operational efficiency
Ability to strengthen program delivery, coordination, and scalability
Experience building or improving operational frameworks in growing organisations
Particularly valuable if: You have experience building systems and structures in early stage, grassroots, or nonprofit organisations where resources are limited but ambition is not.
💰 FUNDRAISING AND PARTNERSHIPS ADVISOR
Experience in securing grants, corporate CSR partnerships, or individual donor programmes
Active network of funders, corporates, or foundations in Nigeria or internationally
Ability to unlock funding opportunities and strategic collaborations that TWI cannot currently access alone
Particularly valuable if: You have an active network of decision makers at foundations, corporations, or funding bodies and are willing to make introductions on TWI's behalf.
📣 COMMUNICATIONS AND BRAND ADVISOR
Background in media, storytelling, public relations, or digital marketing
Ability to amplify TWI's visibility, messaging, and campaigns
Experience running campaigns for social causes or community organisations
Particularly valuable if: You have media contacts, an existing platform or audience, or have run campaigns that created measurable visibility for a cause or organisation.
🤝 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL IMPACT ADVISOR
Experience working directly with homeless populations, displaced persons, women in crisis, or children in underserved communities
Ability to guide program design and ensure relevance, dignity, and real world impact
Deep understanding of what vulnerable communities in Nigeria actually need
Particularly valuable if: You have been on the ground and understand the gap between what programs promise and what communities actually experience.
⚖️ GOVERNANCE LEGAL AND COMPLIANCE ADVISOR
Expertise in nonprofit governance, board structure, and organisational accountability
Experience reviewing contracts, MOUs, and partnership agreements
Knowledge of Nigerian nonprofit regulations, beneficiary protection policies, and data privacy standards
Ability to advise on employment law as TWI transitions toward paid staff
Familiarity with international funder governance requirements
Particularly valuable if: You are a legal professional, governance specialist, or compliance expert who understands the regulatory and structural requirements facing growing Nigerian nonprofits.
📊 FINANCE AND AUDIT ADVISOR
Background in accounting, financial management, audit, or nonprofit financial reporting
Ability to review TWI's financial systems, income and expenditure reports, and annual accounts
Experience supporting organisations through their first financial audit or establishing bookkeeping systems
Understanding of donor financial reporting requirements and grant compliance
Ability to advise on financial sustainability and long term revenue diversification
Particularly valuable if: You are a financial professional accountant, auditor, or CFO who can help build the financial credibility needed to attract institutional funding.
