    About RDPFS

    Reader’s Digest Partners for Sight Foundation (RDPFS) is a grantmaking organization dedicated to fostering the independence of people who are blind or visually impaired. Through strategic philanthropy, RDPFS supports programs that expand access to care, education, employment, and opportunity, working toward a more accessible and inclusive world.

    Position Summary

    RDPFS is seeking thoughtful, mission-driven leaders to join its Board of Directors. Board members play a critical role in guiding the Foundation’s strategy, strengthening its impact, and advancing its visibility within the blindness and low vision community.

    This is an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and engaged board committed to innovative, high impact grantmaking and long-term organizational sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities

    Board members are expected to:

      • Provide strategic oversight and governance aligned with RDPFS’s mission and priorities
      • Engage in thoughtful, constructive dialogue to support strong decision-making
      • Serve as ambassadors, helping to increase awareness and visibility of RDPFS
      • Participate actively in grantmaking discussions and organizational planning
      • Attend four quarterly board meetings annually; Review materials in advance and contribute meaningfully to discussions
      • Serve on at least one board committee
      • Make an annual financial contribution at a level meaningful to the individual

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    We are seeking candidates who demonstrate:

      • A strong commitment to the mission of supporting people who are blind or visually impaired
      • A collaborative leadership style and ability to engage constructively with diverse perspectives
      • Strategic expertise in one or more of the following areas:
      • Philanthropy or grantmaking
      • Nonprofit or foundation leadership
      • Strategic partnerships or planning
      • Lived experience with or connection to the blindness/low vision community
      • A reputation for integrity, sound judgment, and ethical conduct
      • Enthusiasm for helping grow the Foundation’s impact, reach, and sustainability
