Description
Make a Difference One Homework Assignment at a Time!
Olive Crest is seeking caring and dependable volunteers to support elementary-aged children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) during our after-school homework help program.
While we call it "tutoring," this role is less about teaching lessons and more about encouraging students, helping them stay focused, answering questions, and providing support as they complete their homework.
Volunteers play an important role in building confidence, creating a positive learning environment, and showing kids that they have people cheering them on.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Assist students with homework assignments and reading activities
- Encourage positive study habits and organization skills
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support
- Help create a welcoming, fun, and encouraging environment
- Serve as a positive role model for children
Qualifications
- Enjoy working with children
- Patient, encouraging, and dependable
- Able to commit to a regular volunteer schedule when possible
- High school students are encouraged to apply
- No prior tutoring experience required
Background Check Requirements
Volunteers ages 18 and older must complete:
- A background check
- Live Scan fingerprinting
Both requirements can be completed through Olive Crest at our Bellflower office.
Why Volunteer?
By giving just a few hours a week, you can help a child develop confidence, improve academic skills, and feel supported as they navigate the school year. Your encouragement can make a lasting impact.
Interested in volunteering? We'd love to hear from you!
