You do not need prior experience as an ESL teacher to get involved.

    This role is...

    • Transformative:You will work directly with members of the immigrant and refugee community. The knowledge and skills you provide can change a person’s life. The 1-on-1 format allows you to tailor your lessons to the specific needs of your learner.
    • Interpersonal:You will build a relationship with your learner. You can work together as long as both of you would like to participate in the program.
    • Intercultural:This opportunity creates a space for mutual development of intercultural competency. Both you and your learner will learn to communicate with people of other cultures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan lessons by drawing inspiration from weekly topics we post

    • Enthusiastically motivate and gently push learners out of their comfort zone
    • Spend 30-60 minutes on class preparation and reporting
