    Description

    Conversa Corps is looking for a volunteer Chief People Office to volunteer 8+ hours per week.

    Position Summary

    The Volunteer Chief People Officer (CPO) is a mission-driven leader responsible for shaping and supporting a people strategy that advances the organization’s values, equity commitments, and long-term impact. As a member of the leadership team, the CPO partners closely with the CEO and senior leaders to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains talented volunteers and team members while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and values-aligned culture.

    This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on HR support, helping build strong people practices that enable Conversa Corps to effectively support humanitarian and disaster response efforts worldwide.

    Key Responsibilities

    People Strategy & Leadership

    • Support the development and implementation of people strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.
    • Partner with leadership to build a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture.
    • Identify opportunities to improve engagement, retention, and volunteer experience.

    Recruitment & Onboarding

    • Support recruitment efforts including creating position descriptions, posting opportunities, reviewing applications, and coordinating interviews.
    • Assist with onboarding new volunteers to ensure they have the resources and information needed to succeed.
    • Collaborate with team leaders to identify staffing and volunteer needs.

    Policy & Compliance

    • Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
    • Ensure personnel records remain organized and compliant with data protection practices.
    • Provide guidance on HR best practices and support leadership in people-related decisions.

    Training & Development

    • Collaborate with training and leadership teams to support initiatives that strengthen team skills and capabilities.
    • Help identify learning and development opportunities that support team growth and mission impact.

    Employee & Volunteer Relations

    • Serve as a resource for team members with HR-related questions or concerns.
    • Assist in addressing and resolving conflicts or team relations matters when they arise.
    • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams across programs, operations, and communications.
    • Maintain clear communication with leadership and volunteers to ensure alignment and transparency.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in Human Resources, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
    • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, or HR operations.
    • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Jira, or Confluence is helpful.

    Conversa Corps is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving crisis response through digital collaboration. Through platforms like Aid Arena, a vetted online Slack workspace for aid organizations, and Aid Base, a database of humanitarian organizations, Conversa Corps connects responders of all sizes—from local groups to international NGOs—to improve coordination during disasters.

    By strengthening communication and collaboration across the global aid community, Conversa Corps helps responders access the resources and information needed to save lives and support communities in crisis.
