    Description

Did you know you can make a difference in a shelter dog's life? All it takes is one afternoon.

What is a Dog Day Getaway?

Dog Day Getaways are an opportunity for members of the community to take a shelter dog out for several hours and give them a much needed break from the shelter! You pick up the dog we have matched to you at the time and date selected, take them out for an outing of your choosing (a walk along the Riverfront, chilling at your place for a Netflix marathon, grabbing a Pup Cup at the local Starbucks, you name it!), and return them by 5:00pm that day. We will send you with the supplies you may need for the day.

While you are out and about, we ask that you take photos and/or videos of the dog and their adventures, and chat with people you encounter who may be interested in adopting the dog. The ultimate goal is to find these dogs homes! Upon return, we will ask you to complete a "report card" letting us know how the dog did, what they enjoyed and anything else you learned about the dog. This helps us to know them better and find a better-suited adoptive home. We'll ask you to send us your pictures and videos, and share information about your getaway on your socials, tagging us, helping to spread the word about the fabulous dogs at the shelter waiting for a home!

    • * Must be 18 years of age or older to participate alone. If under 18, must have a parent present. **
