    Description

Hydroponic Farm Volunteer - Brockton Clubhouse

Are you interested in getting hands-on experience in a high-tech hydroponic farm? The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South owns and operates three hydroponic Freight Farms in Taunton and Brockton! We are looking for volunteers to help us maintain our farms so we can continue to feed our community.

Our Freight Farm volunteers work hands-on in the processes of seeding, transplanting, and harvesting greens in the Farms, which are then incorporated into meal service for Club members and distributed throughout the community.

Our Freight Farms provide fresh, healthy vegetables for our Kids Café Healthy Meals Program, which serves nutritious dinners to each of our members every weeknight. BGCMS also serves our club members’ families and the community through our Monthly Family Markets and Mobile Markets. In addition, BGCMS proudly provides fresh produce free of cost to a network of local partner agencies working to combat food insecurity across the Metro South region. Our partners help to distribute free, nutritious Freight Farm produce to populations whom we otherwise might not reach throughout our service region. Our Freight Farms allow us to deliver fresh produce directly to individuals and families living within two of the harshest food deserts in the state.

Our Freight Farms offer several truly unique service opportunities for individuals and groups alike to make a profound impact close to home. The tremendous impact of our Freight Farms is made possible in no small part thanks to an extensive network of volunteers, interns, and co-op students from local technical high schools and community colleges. Our Farm volunteers play a critical role in our ability to sustainably donate 100% of our excess produce to individuals and families in need throughout the Metro South region.
