    About LoopRoots Foundation

LoopRoots Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on reentry support for individuals and families impacted by incarceration. Our work includes transportation access, housing stabilization, workforce reintegration, and community-based technology solutions. We are currently building a mission-driven rideshare and service platform designed to address transportation barriers for reentering citizens and underserved communities.

    Role Overview

LoopRoots Foundation is seeking a Technical Lead to help guide the early-stage development and deployment of our nonprofit rideshare application and supporting digital infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain real-world leadership experience, nonprofit tech exposure, and hands-on involvement in building a platform from the ground up.

The Technical Lead will help translate vision into execution by coordinating development efforts, advising on architecture decisions, and helping prepare the platform for proof of concept and pilot launch.

This is a training-based, unpaid role intended for individuals seeking experience, leadership development, portfolio work, and nonprofit impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership and guidance for the rideshare app and foundation technology initiatives

    • Help define the technical roadmap, MVP scope, and deployment phases

    • Coordinate with volunteer developers, designers, and product contributors

    • Review technical decisions related to architecture, security, scalability, and integrations

    • Support setup of development workflows, documentation, and version control

    • Assist leadership in preparing the platform for proof of concept, waitlist launch, and pilot testing

    • Ensure technology decisions align with nonprofit compliance, privacy, and data protection standards

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with software development, engineering, or technical project leadership

    • Familiarity with mobile app development, web platforms, or SaaS products

    • Understanding of APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps is a plus

    • Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders

    • Interest in social impact, nonprofit technology, or civic tech

    • Ability to commit 20–25 hours per week consistently

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience leading a real nonprofit technology initiative

    • Opportunity to shape a platform focused on social justice and reentry support

    • Leadership and project management experience

    • Portfolio-building work and professional references

    • Training, mentorship, and exposure to nonprofit startup operations
