    Berkeley Food Network Volunteer Outreach Ambassador - Join Our Community!

    Are you passionate about food justice, nutrition, and building a stronger community? Berkeley Food Network (BFN) is on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals like you to join our Volunteer Ambassador Program!

    About BFN:

    Berkeley Food Network is the largest food assistance organization in Northern Alameda County. At BFN, we believe everyone has the right to healthy food and we're committed to increasing food and nutrition security in Berkeley and Albany. We work collaboratively, sourcing high-quality, nutritious foods to distribute at no cost to our neighbors through a network of pantries, a Home Delivery program, and through partnerships with other organizations in our community.     Volunteer Ambassador Program Overview:

    Our Volunteer Ambassador Program aims to build a diverse and engaged community of advocates dedicated to addressing food insecurity and advancing sustainable food systems. As a BFN Volunteer Ambassador, you'll play a crucial role in representing our mission, promoting awareness of food insecurity, and empowering individuals to become active participants in the solution with BFN.

    Job Description:

    As a BFN Volunteer Ambassador, you will:

    • Serve as a voice for BFN's mission and initiatives.
    • Work at events on-site or in the community, distributing materials, speaking, and engaging community members.
    • Initiate meaningful connections that inspire people to join BFN as a volunteer, donor, or stakeholder in the work.
    • Provide set up support for outreach tables and booths.

    As a BFN Volunteer Ambassador, you have:

    • Eagerness to educate the community about food insecurity and food assistance.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Access to personal transportation with a willingness to commute around Northern Alameda County.

    BFN Volunteer Ambassador Commitment:

    • Commit to participating in 2 events per year.
    • Attend an in-person training on Wednesdays, August 27 and 28 from 5:30-6:30 pm.
    • Familiarize yourself with BFN's mission, goals, and expectations.
    • Engage the public during your shifts and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

    Ambassador Training | Wednesday, January 28 - 5:30-6:30 pm:

    To support BFN's outreach events as an Ambassador, please sign up here to attend the Ambassador Training /Refresher. The Training will be held virtually on Wednesday, January 28 from 5:30-6:30 pm to get up to learn the talking points for this event and an get an overview of logistics. T-shirts are provided to trained Ambassadors to keep and wear to outreach events. Ambassadors must be able to do at least two outreach events per year.

    Ambassadors at Tailgating | 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm (15 volunteers)

    Share your energy and enthusiasm for BFN by volunteering as an Ambassador at the Tailgate event! Help participants play cornhole and take home BFN swag! Bring the fun by being a BFN veggie mascot! Get the community involved in and aware of our work! Ambassador Training required; see details and register below.

    First Friday Wine Block, Friday, February 6, 2026 (& ongoing)

    Visit Berkeley also partners with BFN to raise funds and awareness about our mission at the First Friday Wine Block event on February 6! The November event raised $1,213! Event attendees may donate to BFN and receive a wine glass, then get pours from Donkey & Goat, Hammerling Wines, Broc Cellars and Tessier Winery. We hope you can support BFN by sharing your passion for BFN’s mission and helping participants donate to BFN. Trained Ambassadors may sign up for a 3-hour shift in the BFN Advancement Opportunity here.

    Visit Berkeley Partner Showcase - February 17, 2026

    We are looking for trained Ambassadors to help staff our table, share what Berkeley Food Network does, and help UC Berkeley campus partners understand how they can support food access in our community. This is a great opportunity to talk with UC Berkeley staff, build awareness for BFN, and help ensure that community care is part of the conversation when events are planned on campus.

    12 NOON - 2:15 PM or 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM | 3 Ambassadors
