    Description

    Heritage Hall Education Center Volunteer

The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) is in critical need for volunteers. Continuing our mission of Honoring Aerospace Legends to Inspire Future Leaders depends on the generosity of people who can spend a couple of hours a week or month in our Learning Center answering questions about our Enshrinees and the NMUSAF. We often share with people that our story goes hand-in-hand with that of the NMUSAF; we are the "software" and the museum is the "hardware" of aviation. We can talk about the XB-70 for the remarkable aircraft it is and about Enshrinee Fitz Fulton who flew it. Many of you know our Enshrinees personally and visitors love to hear about those connections.

Benefits include access to our breakroom with snacks, coffee, etc. for every shift. Accumulating hours can be put toward awards and recognition including free seats at Enshrinement, Enshrinee talks and free signed prints. Quarterly hosted volunteer brunch for talking, listening and sharing ideas, and, of course, the opportunity to share your experiences in a whole new way with the public.

NMUSAF and NAHF Don Perander volunteer shared why he volunteers for both organizations, "I volunteer at NAHF because it provides another opportunity to meet and greet visitors and a chance to discuss a different aspect of aviation, namely people. Thanks to the skills and creativity of those enshrined, aviation has become a safe, efficient, and expedient mode of transporting people and commercial goods around the world. They can serve as an example for us all. Also, the interactive exhibits provide visitors, for example, a chance to maneuver in outer space and appreciate how different it is when compared to that on earth."

Shifts are typically 9-1 or 1-4:30 and once a week. We can shorten or lengthen as necessary and once or twice a month would be acceptable. Prior knowledge is not needed because we have Enshrinee bios and other materials for your reference at the volunteer desk. For more information, please call Meagan at (937) 256-0944, etc. 16 or stop in and see us! Thank you for your consideration.
