    Description

    Social Media & Communications Specialist

The Social Media & Communications Specialist helps tell the HCA story and connect Honduras Child Alliance with people around the world. Through social media, newsletters, volunteer outreach, reviews, and other online communications, you’ll help attract volunteers, donors, supporters, and potential partners—and give our growing international community a window into what’s happening at Honduras Child Alliance.

You’ll work closely with the Development Manager and the HCA Leadership Team, bringing clear communication, creativity, and a strong sense of what makes a story worth sharing.

But this isn’t just a sit-behind-a-computer kind of role. You’ll also spend time in our classrooms, getting to know our students and working as part of a blended team of instructors alongside our Honduran interns and international volunteers. You’ll become part of the HCA community, and that is how you can best tell our stories.

    You’ll:

    • Live beachfront in a friendly Caribbean town.
    • Coordinate social media presence, newsletters, volunteer postings, and other online outreach for Honduras Child Alliance.
    • Create and schedule engaging posts, stories, and other content that highlight HCA’s students, programs, volunteers, interns, and community.
    • Help keep HCA’s online presence active, current, and welcoming.
    • Help solicit and share reviews and stories from volunteers, supporters, and partners.
    • Collaborate with the Development Manager on fundraising appeals, campaigns, and other development-related communications.
    • Participate actively in weekly staff meetings.
    • Look for new and creative ways to help HCA connect with people, organizations, and potential supporters internationally.

This role is a good fit for someone who:

    • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Has some experience managing social media and creating engaging content.
    • Is creative, organized, and comfortable taking initiative.
    • Can work independently but also enjoys being part of a collaborative team.
    • Has an interest in nonprofit communications, fundraising, storytelling, or international development.

Spanish is helpful but not required. An advanced beginner level or higher is preferred, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice while you’re here.

The Social Media & Communications Specialist receives discounted housing and five free Convo-Amigos Spanish sessions and should plan to stay for 6–12 months.
