    Description

    Youtube Shorts Creator

Life of Kai is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the human–animal bond through humane education, storytelling, and community programs.

We create original children’s stories that spark empathy, curiosity, and kindness toward animals—and we’re growing our YouTube presence to share these stories in new, engaging ways. We’re looking for a creative volunteer to help us bring our stories to life through YouTube Shorts.

These are short, powerful videos (under 60 seconds) designed to:

    • Spark emotion
    • Tell a tiny story
    • Inspire curiosity
    • Encourage viewers to explore more on our channel

You’ll create 1–2 Shorts per month based on our existing children’s stories (we’ll provide examples and guidance). What You’ll Do

    • Transform story moments into engaging YouTube Shorts
    • Experiment with visuals, pacing, and storytelling styles
    • Use tools like Canva, CapCut, or similar (flexible—use what you love!)
    • Collaborate lightly with our team for feedback and ideas

    🌱 What We’re Looking For

    • A creative storyteller who enjoys visual media
    • Interest in animals, kindness, or humane education
    • Basic video editing skills (beginner-friendly is okay!)
    • Someone who enjoys creative freedom and trying new ideas

You don’t need to be an expert—we care more about heart, creativity, and curiosity.

    🎯 The Goal

We’re not just making videos—we’re creating moments that make people feel something.

    A great Short might:

    • Make someone smile
    • Spark empathy for animals
    • Feel visually beautiful or meaningful
    • Leave someone wanting to watch more

    🌟 Why Volunteer With Us?

    • Be part of a mission-driven, creative nonprofit
    • Build your portfolio with meaningful content
    • Have room to experiment and express your style
    • Help shape how kindness and animal stories are shared online

    📩 How to Apply

Tell us a little about yourself and, if possible, share:

    • Any sample videos or creative work (optional but helpful!)
    • Why this opportunity speaks to you

If you’ve ever watched a short video that gave you goosebumps or made you pause…

we’d love your help creating that feeling for someone else.

If you want, I can also:

    • Create a shorter punchier version (Idealist sometimes favors concise posts)
    • Or tailor this toward students (CSUMB style) vs general creatives
    • Or even draft a sample Short concept to include in the post (this actually attracts stronger applicants 👀)

Oh gosh I did not think about the Monterey students but yes create one so I can share it with Brianna. It would have to be written leaning toward service learning.

Love this direction—this is perfect for service-learning students. Here’s a version tailored specifically for Brianna and her Monterey students, with the right balance of structure, learning outcomes, and creative freedom:

🎓 Service-Learning Opportunity: YouTube Shorts for Humane Education

Organization: Life of Kai: Compassion Connections Inc.

    Format: Remote | Project-Based

Commitment: 1–2 short videos per month

    🌱 About the Project

Life of Kai is a nonprofit focused on humane education, animal welfare, and community connection. One of our key initiatives is creating children’s storytelling content that helps young audiences develop empathy, compassion, and awareness toward animals.

We are looking for students to help transform these stories into YouTube Shorts—short-form videos designed to emotionally and creatively engage viewers in under 60 seconds.

    🎥 What Students Will Do

    Students will:

    • Create 1–2 YouTube Shorts per month based on provided children’s stories
    • Translate written or narrated content into visual storytelling
    • Experiment with pacing, visuals, sound, and emotional tone
    • Explore what makes short-form content engaging and impactful

    Students will be given:

    • Story content and context
    • Sample videos and creative guidelines
    • Feedback and support as needed

    🎯 Learning Objectives

This project is designed to help students develop skills in:

    • Digital storytelling (how to tell a meaningful story in <60 seconds)
    • Audience engagement (what captures attention and why)
    • Creative decision-making (visual, emotional, and artistic choices)
    • Mission-driven media (using content to support a social cause)
    • Iterative design (testing, refining, and improving content)

💡 Creative Freedom + Real Impact

Students are encouraged to bring their own style and ideas.

    A strong Short might:

    • Highlight a moment of empathy between a child and an animal
    • Use visuals or pacing to create curiosity or surprise
    • Tell a “mini-story” with emotional impact
    • Inspire viewers to learn more or reflect

This is not about perfection—it’s about exploration, creativity, and connection.

    🐾 Why This Matters

These videos help expand access to humane education by:

    • Reaching wider audiences through short-form content
    • Making empathy-based learning more engaging and accessible
    • Supporting a growing library of original educational stories

Students will directly contribute to content that promotes kindness, compassion, and animal welfare.

    🤝 Collaboration & Support

    • Flexible, student-friendly structure
    • Light guidance with room for independence
    • Opportunity to build a portfolio with real-world impact

    📩 Next Steps

If this aligns with your service-learning goals, we would love to collaborate.

    Students can:

    • Work individually or in small teams
    • Share prior work (optional)
    • Bring their own creative approach to the project

    ✨ Closing Thought

How do you make someone feel something in under 60 seconds?

That’s the creative challenge—and the opportunity.
