    Location: Remote with NYC-based collaboration as needed

    About Mentor A Promise

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a NYC-based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, social-emotional learning, creative expression, publishing, housing innovation, and community-based programs. MAP’s impact depends on strong, values-aligned partnerships that are built on trust, ethics, and shared accountability.

    Role Overview

    The Chief of Partnerships is the senior leader responsible for shaping and stewarding MAP’s partnership strategy across all divisions. This role ensures that external relationships—corporate, foundation, academic, nonprofit, and public-sector—are mission-aligned, ethically grounded, and structured for long-term impact.

    The Chief of Partnerships works closely with the CEO / Executive Director, Development, Programs, Legal, and Operations to ensure partnerships support children and families without compromising dignity, consent, or trust.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Set and lead MAP’s organization-wide partnership strategy
    • Identify, cultivate, and steward high-impact external partnerships
    • Ensure all partnerships align with MAP’s mission, ethics, and safeguarding standards
    • Oversee partnership structures, including MOUs and collaboration frameworks
    • Coordinate cross-division partnership efforts to avoid duplication and misalignment
    • Partner with Legal and Compliance to assess partnership risk and obligations
    • Support Development in aligning partnerships with funding and sustainability goals
    • Represent MAP in strategic partnership conversations as needed

    Qualifications

    • Senior experience in partnerships, external relations, business development, or nonprofit leadership
    • Strong ability to build trust-based, mission-aligned relationships
    • Experience navigating cross-sector partnerships
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Comfort advising executive leadership and shaping strategy
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience in nonprofit, education, housing, or youth-serving organizations
    • Familiarity with MOUs, partnership agreements, or collaborative governance
    • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships
    • Understanding of ethical partnership and consent frameworks

    Commitment

    • Volunteer executive leadership role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration
