Description
Caring Hospice of Massachusetts is seeking Reiki practitioners to join our volunteer team. Reiki volunteers provide gentle, non-invasive energy therapy that promotes relaxation, comfort, and emotional well-being for patients facing terminal illnesses.
Through the simple gift of presence and healing touch (or hands-above techniques), Reiki volunteers help create peaceful moments that can ease stress, anxiety, and promote comfort during the end-of-life journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide Reiki sessions to hospice patients as requested.
- Create a calm, respectful, and compassionate environment during visits.
- Communicate professionally with hospice staff regarding completed volunteer visits.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospice policies.
- Complete required visit documentation.
- Attend hospice volunteer orientation and ongoing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Certified Reiki Practitioner (Level II or Master preferred; all certification levels will be considered).
- Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working with individuals facing serious illness.
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respect diverse beliefs, cultures, and spiritual practices.
- Willingness to complete hospice volunteer training, background check, health screening, and other onboarding requirements.
Time Commitment
- Flexible scheduling based on your availability.
- Typical patient visits last approximately 30–60 minutes.
- Volunteers may serve weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
