    Description

    Wildlife Rehab Caregivers
Do you love animals? We are in need of dedicated, teen/adult volunteers who are not afraid to get their hands dirty in the care of injured and orphaned wildlife! We have a small animal hospital, newborn nursery, and eagle recovery center. Hoo Haven works closely with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin Departments of Natural Resources. Each year, Hoo Haven receives over 2000 referral calls and admits between 800-1000 birds and mammals to the facility for treatment. Happily, most are successfully released to the wild as healthy animals. Small mammals (squirrels, rabbits), large mammals (deer, fox, coyotes, opossums, raccoons, woodchucks), aquatic mammals (beavers, otters), waterfowl, and raptors are the most frequently seen patients at Hoo Haven. We are honored to have been deemed a USFWS Regional Eagle Recovery Center in 2004. The Aquatic Wildlife Recovery Center helps us to care for ducks, geese, beaver, mink, otter, pelicans, herons, and other water-loving wildlife. Volunteers are most needed from March through the summer because of 'baby season.'
