    Description

    About TCUS + Libelle

The Chamber of Us (TCUS) is a volunteer-powered nonprofit building ethical infrastructure for global coordination. Our current focus is Libelle — an open-source, transparent volunteer-matching platform designed to replace black-box recruiting systems with something fair, auditable, and human-centered.

Libelle is early, ambitious, and rapidly evolving. We’re assembling a Design Circle of emerging UX/UI designers and user researchers who want to shape the product from the ground up.

If you’re a student or early-career designer looking for a meaningful, portfolio-ready project, this is an incredible opportunity.

    What You’ll Work On

As part of the Libelle Design Circle, you may contribute to:

    User Research

    • Conduct short user interviews with volunteers and coordinators
    • Map out user journeys & pain points
    • Create insight summaries and recommendations
    • Help define early-stage product personas

    UX/UI Design

    • Turn rough concepts into Figma wireframes + mockups
    • Design clean, intuitive flows for onboarding, parsing preview, and volunteer dashboards
    • Collaborate with backend devs to refine requirements
    • Create lightweight design systems (colors, spacing, components)

    Product Testing

    • Usability testing with early Libelle users
    • Heuristic evaluations
    • Compare UI options & gather feedback
    • Produce small design iterations based on findings

No experience with all of these is necessary — we design collaboratively.

    What You’ll Gain

Real product experience, not just “mock projects.”

You’ll design for a real platform with real users.

    Strong portfolio pieces

Including flows, wireframes, research summaries, and before/after redesigns.

Collaboration with devs & data teams

Work alongside fast-moving backend, parser, and governance pods.

    Mission-driven impact

Every design decision feeds into building ethical, transparent tech.

    Mentorship + community

You’ll be part of a small cross-functional group with regular check-ins and async collaboration.

    Who Should Apply

    This role is great for:

✔ Students in UX, HCI, Product Design, or related fields

✔ Bootcamp grads wanting hands-on experience

✔ Early professionals switching into UX

    ✔ Anyone comfortable with Figma

✔ Curious problem-solvers who like user interviews & rapid iteration

No prior nonprofit or AI experience required. Curiosity + commitment go a long way.

    Time Commitment

    • 3–6 hours/week
    • Fully remote
    • Flexible scheduling

If you don’t have a portfolio yet, that’s okay — share a project, class assignment, or even a Figma screenshot. We care more about willingness to learn.
