    NAAAP New York is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all-volunteer, AAPI professional organization that promotes the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals in all fields through professional development, community service, and social events. We are the founding chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), with a history dating back to 1982.

    About the Role

    This role is essential to ensuring the financial health, sustainability, and growth of the chapter. You will oversee budgeting, financial operations, and grant strategy to secure funding for key programs. You will be reporting directly to the VP of Finance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Oversight & Budget Management (40%)

    • Develop and maintain the organization-wide annual budget.
    • Oversee financial reporting, accounting practices, and compliance with nonprofit requirements.
    • Provide budget guidance to committee directors and advise on fiscal decision-making.

    Grant Writing & Fund Development (30%)

    • Identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
    • Lead the writing, submission, and tracking of grants.
    • Build relationships with foundations, donors, and funding partners.

    Financial Systems & Process Improvement (15%)

    • Implement and refine financial tools, processes, and documentation procedures.
    • Ensure transparency and accountability across the organization.

    Leadership & Collaboration (15%)

    • Work closely with the executive board and committee leads on financial planning.
    • Attend bi-weekly leadership meetings and provide financial updates.

    Qualifications

    • Strong background in finance, accounting, or nonprofit financial management.
    • Experience in grant writing and fund development.
    • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
    • Strong written communication abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a volunteer-driven environment.
    • Previous nonprofit or board experience is a plus.
    • Adept at working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
    • Previous experience in a leadership or management role is a plus.

    Time Commitment:

    • Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 12 months, actively participating in the planning and execution of Finance tasks.
