    Description

Food Shelf Assistants volunteer under the supervision of our Food Shelf Manager to guide clients through the food shelf and stock shelves as needed.

This opportunity has considerable contact with the public. Successful food shelf volunteers will have compassion, a respectful and accepting attitude, good personal hygiene, and dress appropriately (including closed toed shoes). A kind and polite attitude towards clients and other volunteers is mandatory. If you enjoy engaging with people in the community, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

All volunteers are required to sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure information on individuals served is not disclosed to anyone other than staff members.

    Specific duties include:

    • Guiding program participants through the food shelf while following established guidelines of amount of food per household size
    • Stocking and straightening shelves when needed
    • Unloading food trucks
    • Processing food and personal care donations
    • Due to COVID-19, we are doing curbside pick up only. Food Shelf Assistants will pack up the food for the client and bring it out to their vehicle.
