    Community Coordinator - (Hutchinson)

    About MNeurodivergent

MNeurodivergent is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by and for neurodivergent adults. We reduce isolation, build peer-led communities, and host accessible, inclusive social events in cities across the state—including Hutchinson, the Twin Cities, Duluth, and more.

We prioritize accessibility, inclusion, and leadership by people with lived experience. Our events are welcoming, low-pressure, and designed with neurodivergent needs in mind—from sensory-friendly setups to flexible formats and peer support.

    Position Overview

We’re seeking a Community Coordinator to lead our efforts in Hutchinson, MN. This volunteer role involves planning local social events, mentoring volunteers, representing MNeurodivergent at local festivals, and coordinating regional outreach and fundraising opportunities.

You’ll be the primary point of contact for your region, work alongside other Community Coordinators statewide, and collaborate with the Events Committee and Board. This is a highly flexible, on-site role that allows you to shape your local neurodivergent community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Event Planning & Hosting

    • Organize and host inclusive social events for neurodivergent adults (e.g., game nights, art meetups, nature walks)
    • Coordinate venues, supplies, accessibility needs, and event promotion
    • Ensure all events are safe, welcoming, and neurodivergent-affirming

    Volunteer Coordination

    • Identify and interview all new Hutchinson-based volunteers
    • Share interview notes with the Volunteer Committee of the Board for approval and onboarding
    • Help local volunteers integrate into the team and feel supported
    • Lead monthly meetings with all active local volunteers

    Outreach & Tabling

    • Find and coordinate local festivals or community events where MNeurodivergent can table and promote its mission
    • Help prepare signage, fidgets, and outreach materials
    • Represent the organization to the public and engage potential partners

    Fundraising & Local Development

    • Research local grants, small business sponsorships, and in-kind donations
    • Work with the statewide Development/Fundraising Work Group on applying for or launching local funding opportunities
    • Support fundraising at events (e.g., fidget sales or donations)

    Organizational Involvement

    • Attend monthly Events Committee Meetings (statewide Zoom calls with other coordinators)
    • Submit brief reports about local events, volunteer needs, outreach, and community opportunities
    • Communicate regularly with your Board liaison or Events Committee Chair

    Qualifications

    • Must live in or be regularly active in Hutchinson, MN
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Comfortable organizing events, mentoring peers, and speaking with the public
    • Passionate about neurodivergent inclusion and community-building
    • Event planning, volunteer coordination, or community outreach experience helpful but not required
    • Neurodivergent individuals strongly encouraged to apply

    Commitment Details

4–8 hrs/week. Flexible schedule. Must attend monthly local volunteer meeting and statewide Events Committee call. On-site in Hutchinson. Minimum 6-month commitment preferred. Weekend availability for events encouraged.
