Volunteer as a classroom aide for Marywood University Adult Literacy Education Program in the fall semester and gain experience in an educational environment. The ABLE program is a grant-funded literacy program that serves students who need basic skill instruction and have a workforce goal. Instructional focus includes topics such as Language Arts, ESL, Math, Social Studies and Science, however no previous experience teaching these subjects is required. The classroom aide position offers opportunities in virtual (Zoom) or face-to-face settings. Classroom Aides assist with general classroom duties. Our classes run in the mornings and evenings, Monday through Thursday. We are asking for a 6-8 week commitment from Volunteers to provide consistency to the students/instructors. The program offers a flexible schedule based on your needs which will be discussed in an initial meeting. Volunteers complete initial training in preparation for participation in the program. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in gaining experience in the virtual and/or face-to-face setting.
