    Description

After School Reading Tutors for 1st and 2nd grade (STAIR)-Annapolis

STAIR-Annapolis, Start The Adventure In Reading, is a twice-weekly, AFTER SCHOOL literacy tutoring program for Anne Arundel County Public School first and second grade students reading below grade level. Tutors work one-on-one with a student for a one hour- 45 minute session, and we offer our volunteers the flexibility to choose their level of commitment: one day per week, two days per week, or as a substitute on an as-needed basis. STAIR-Annapolis has 16 sites throughout Anne Arundel County, and we place tutors at sites that are convenient to their home. Our newest site (#16) opened in late January at Quarterfield Elementary, on Monday and Thursday from 2:30-3:45. Our program runs from early October to early May. We offer a comprehensive introduction and training for all new volunteers.

Please contact volunteer_coordinator@stairannapolis.org for more information. We will have a short 45 minute information session in early April (details TBD). This will be an overview of the STAIR program. We will continue to schedule information sessions throughout the summer for all interested volunteers, and will begin to schedule the required 2 hour curriculum trainings in late summer.
