  • Mission

STAIR's mission is to increase the reading level of 2nd graders, to improve students' self-esteem and self-confidence, and to provide a caring environment where reading is FUN!

    About Us

STAIR-Annapolis was founded in 2006 and now includes 15 sites throughout the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, serving more than 150 Anne Arundel County Public Schools first and second graders. Our program provides twice-weekly literacy tutoring after school for the entire academic year for students reading below grade level, using a dedicated team of volunteer tutors and an educator-approved curriculum. Training is provided and no prior teaching or tutoring experience is necessary. On average, STAIR students improve 4.3 reading levels over the course of the year!
