    About Our Helpers Minnesota and the volunteer position

    Our Helpers was founded in Ohio with a mission to strengthen communities through service, advocacy, education, and support for vulnerable individuals and families. After years of community work and impact, the organization is expanding its mission by launching its new Minnesota branch.

    The Minnesota branch is leading an ambitious initiative, the Our Helpers Minnesota Youth Empowerment & Transformation Campus, a long-term project designed to address the root causes of youth violence, educational disparities, substance use, trauma, homelessness, and lack of opportunity.

    Our vision is to help create a safer Minnesota by empowering young people to become productive, educated, responsible, and law-abiding citizens who make positive contributions to their families and communities.

    Our programs will serve youth and families from all backgrounds, with a special commitment to supporting immigrant, refugee, and other underserved communities through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and family-centered services that promote healing, opportunity, and long-term success.

    About the Volunteer Coordinator Role

    As we launch this exciting new chapter in Minnesota, we are seeking a passionate and organized Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit, engage, and support volunteers who share our vision for stronger communities and brighter futures for young people.

    This individual will play a vital role in building the volunteer program that will support community outreach, youth programming, fundraising events, and the development of the Youth Empowerment & Transformation Campus.

    Responsibilities

    • Recruit volunteers through community outreach, colleges, universities, faith communities, businesses, and social media.
    • Coordinate volunteer applications, interviews, orientation, and onboarding.
    • Match volunteers with meaningful opportunities based on their interests and skills.
    • Schedule volunteers for community events, outreach activities, and organizational programs.
    • Maintain volunteer records and track volunteer service hours.
    • Organize volunteer appreciation and recognition activities.
    • Support fundraising events and community engagement initiatives.
    • Work closely with organizational leadership to identify volunteer needs and expand community partnerships.

    • Meeting with supervisor 1 hour a week for update.

    Qualifications

    We welcome individuals who:

    • Are passionate about youth empowerment and community service.
    • Believe in creating safer, healthier communities.
    • Have strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Enjoy working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    • Can work independently and collaboratively.
    • Have experience in volunteer coordination, project management, or community engagement (preferred but not required).
