    Description

Become a Friendly Visitor for an Isolated Senior in Jamaica, Queens!!

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community. The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities.

We're currently in need of volunteers to provide social engagement to older adults in Jamaica, Queens. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, have fun conversations, play board games, go for short walks and much more!

Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, provide 2 non-familial references and consent to a background check to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call an older adult or do in-person visits upon approval for one hour a week.
