    Description

    Volunteer: Director of Human Resources

    Volunteer Position: Director of Human Resources (HR)

    Organization: Women of Color on the Move (WOCOTM)

    Location: Remote

    Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week

    Reports To: Chief of HR

    About WOCOTM

    Women of Color on the Move (WOCOTM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, and families through education, leadership development, and community engagement. Our mission is to create equitable opportunities for underserved communities by offering programs in health, advocacy, and leadership.

    Position Overview

    The Volunteer Director of Human Resources will lead and manage the human resources functions of WOCOTM, ensuring that our volunteer and staff experience is equitable, supportive, and mission-aligned. This role focuses on developing and implementing HR policies, volunteer engagement strategies, and training systems that sustain a positive organizational culture.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. HR Leadership & Compliance
      • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems that align with nonprofit best practices.
      • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and volunteer regulations.
      • Support organizational planning and staffing structure.
    2. Volunteer & Staff Management
      • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention of volunteers and staff.
      • Maintain volunteer and employee databases, records, and performance evaluations.
      • Develop strategies to improve volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
    3. Training & Development
      • Design and lead orientation and professional development sessions for staff and volunteers.
      • Identify skill-building opportunities and leadership pathways within the organization.
    4. Performance & Culture
      • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative organizational culture.
      • Mediate personnel concerns and facilitate conflict resolution when needed.
      • Lead recognition and appreciation initiatives to honor team contributions.
    5. Strategic Collaboration
      • Work with the CEO and leadership team to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.
      • Contribute to strategic planning, workforce forecasting, and succession planning.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
      • 3+ years of HR management, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit leadership experience preferred.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for community service.
      • Familiarity with HR software and volunteer management systems (e.g., Airtable, Trello, or similar).
      • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices.
      • Have knowledge of AI
      • Able to used Slate,Micosoft-365,Booking, calendar.
      • Able to recruit volunteers within most workforce development platform.
      • Will need to know how to used Ai
