Description
The YMCA Reads Program needs volunteers age 12 years and up to tutor/mentor first, second, third, and fourth grade students in reading/literacy skills. Tutoring takes place at Winston Academy of Engineering. (3415 Swindell Rd. Lakeland) Volunteers may commit to one to 20 days a month, for 60-75 minute sessions (3:15-4:30, 4::00-5:30, or both). Mentors use lessons & specific materials to help build reading skills or read to students, listen to students read and assist with fun, creative projects. Training and background screening are provided at no cost. Join the YMCA Reads program and make a difference for a child, a family, a school, and the community!
