    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    The Foster Director provides leadership and oversight of Dog Star Rescue’s foster program by supporting fosters, Foster Coordinators, and volunteers while ensuring dogs receive exceptional care in foster homes. This position works closely with the Board of Directors and team leaders to strengthen and grow the foster program.

    • Lead and oversee the foster program and Foster Coordinators.
    • Recruit, onboard, train, and support foster volunteers.
    • Maintain foster manuals, training materials, and program documentation.
    • Serve as the primary resource for foster related questions, concerns, and support.
    • Ensure foster records and program data remain accurate and up to date.
    • Collaborate with the Intake, Medical, GDC, Screening, Transport, and Adoption teams to support dogs throughout their rescue journey.
    • Monitor foster capacity and help coordinate placements and resources.
    • Represent the foster program at Board meetings by providing updates, statistics, recommendations, and program needs.
    • Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive volunteer culture.

    Qualifications

    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
    • Excellent problem solving and volunteer support skills.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and shelter software, or a willingness to learn.
    • Passion for Dog Star Rescue’s mission and commitment to teamwork..

    Working conditions

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely work around dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.
