    Program Ambassador

    About Big Brothers Big Sisters Bay Area's Program: Our urgent and essential mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We pair young people referred to our program by parents, guardians, teachers and social workers with a screened, qualified volunteer adult mentor through a comprehensive matching process, which emphasizes compatibility, commitment, and child safety.

    Who we serve: We serve and support children and youth 8-25 years old across all nine Bay Area Counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano & Sonoma).

    We are seeking: Volunteer, Program Ambassadors to support mentor recruitment and share the program information with families. The role offers flexible hours, based around the volunteer’s schedule. Hours can range from 2-8 hours per week, with potential for more if desired and all service hours can be verified upon request. This is a non-paid volunteer position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES CAN INCLUDE:

    • Tabling at community events, fairs and festivals to share our program information with the public
    • Community and neighborhood canvassing
    • Digital posting of volunteer opportunities on online platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, NextDoor, etc.
    • Visiting local business and community hubs to share hard copies of flyers, brochures, sign up sheets, etc.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 16+ years old. If under 18 years of age, Parent/Guardian permission is required.
    • Boast a deep belief in and passionately promote our mission
    • Willingness to learn and implement feedback
    • Ability to commit to scheduled events and show up promptly when expected
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and take initiative
