Volunteer Social Media Content Creator
Details
Description
She Garden is a culturally supportive space dedicated to the healing and restoration of Black women navigating the journey from intimate partner violence toward safety. We raise awareness around ending domestic violence, connect survivors with community resources, and hold safe group discussions that help Black women reclaim their confidence, voice, and peace.
We are seeking a creative and dedicated Volunteer Social Media Content Creator to help us amplify our mission, raise awareness, and engage our community.
In this role, you will focus on crafting and scheduling impactful content, prioritizing authentic design with minimal AI reliance that highlights our programming, fundraisers, and advocacy efforts to end domestic violence.
*This volunteer role focuses purely on content creation and scheduling—you will not be responsible for monitoring DMs, responding to comments, or managing live engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation: Design visually engaging graphics, write compelling captions, and produce short-form video content (Reels, Stories) for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn that reflect the voice and values of She Garden. AI tools may be used sparingly as support, but designs should emphasize a distinct, human-crafted brand identity rather than heavy AI generation.
- Mission & Advocacy Alignment: Draft educational and advocacy posts that align with She Garden’s voice, emphasizing support for survivors and ending intimate partner violence.
- Program & Fundraiser Promotion: Create timely posts to promote upcoming organization programs, events, and fundraising campaigns.
- Scheduling: Use a social media management platform (e.g., Buffer, Later, Canva) to schedule approved content in advance across platforms.
- Weekly Check-in: Attend a brief weekly virtual meeting with the Executive Director to align on the upcoming content calendar and priorities.
- Time Tracking: Keep a basic log of volunteer hours spent on tasks each week.
What We’re Looking For
- Mission & Cultural Sensitivity: A baseline understanding of domestic violence/intimate partner violence (with an eagerness to learn more) and a deep sensitivity to the cultural nuances affecting Black women and survivors.
- Creative Eye & Graphic Design: Strong writing and editing skills paired with basic graphic design experience (using tools like Canva). You have a strong eye for original, thoughtful visuals and basic design principles to build a distinct, recognizable brand identity that avoids cookie-cutter flyers or heavy AI aesthetics.
- Self-Motivated & Organized: Ability to independently manage 3–5 hours of remote work per week and hit weekly scheduling goals.
- Location: Fully remote, but candidates local to the area are preferred.
