    Description

    Non-Profit Accountant/Financial Planner

We are seeking a volunteer accountant or financial planner with nonprofit experience to help guide our organization's financial health and long-term sustainability. This role MUST have prior non-profit experience and is ideal for a finance professional passionate about animal welfare who wants to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes.

    About Us

Dulce Vida Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned and abused dogs and cats across California and Mexico. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming, we give animals a second chance at life. Our work is powered by a passionate team—and the generosity of volunteers like you.

    Role Summary

Have experience with non-profit financial planning and accounting? As an Accountant/Financial Planner for Dulce Vida Rescue, you’ll play an essential role in creating a positive, welcoming experience for potential adopters and helping our dogs shine.

    Work with the Founder to:

    • Review and help maintain accurate financial records (expenses, donations, grants)
    • Help prepare for audits or financial reviews, if needed
    • Assist with budget planning and forecasting
    • Provide guidance on nonprofit financial best practices and compliance (990 filings, restricted vs. unrestricted funds, etc.)
    • Advise on financial sustainability strategies (reserves, fundraising allocation, cost management)

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Background in accounting, finance, or financial planning (CPA, CFP, or equivalent experience preferred)
    • Prior experience with nonprofit financial management
    • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and IRS Form 990 requirements
    • Strong attention to detail and integrity handling sensitive financial data
    • Passion for animal welfare a plus!

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Your expertise will directly support our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need — helping ensure every dollar donated goes further toward saving lives.
    • An inclusive, supportive team
    • If in Tecate, you would have access to all of our rescues to love on at our sanctuary!
