Quiet Major Donor Wanted — Help Build a Community Restaurant in Garland
Details
Description
Somewhere in DFW, there may be a millionaire who wants to do something extraordinary for their community—and would be perfectly happy if nobody ever put their name on a building.
We would really like to meet that person.
We’re The Gracefull Table Community Kitchen, a Garland-based nonprofit providing free, freshly prepared meals and restaurant-style hospitality to people experiencing food insecurity and neighbors in need.
We’re building our work through first-Sunday community meal pop-ups. But the vision has always been bigger: our own permanent restaurant, thoughtfully created for the people we want to serve.
We have the chefs. We have the mission. We’re looking for the quiet financial partner who can help give it a home—and the stability to grow.
THE RESTAURANT WE WANT TO BUILD
Our vision is a pay-what-you-can restaurant in Garland, open five days a week for breakfast and dinner.
A place where someone can walk in, receive a warm welcome, choose a meal, and experience thoughtful service regardless of what they can afford.
We want our own building, designed and equipped around that purpose, with a kitchen that supports our chefs, a welcoming dining room, and a community garden where neighbors can grow food, learn, and contribute to what reaches the table.
We want to create the space intentionally—from the way the kitchen functions to the way a guest feels when they sit down.
WHY WE NEED YOU
We’re seeking a major donor with the capacity and willingness to fund both the creation of this permanent home and its operation while we build a broader base of support.
That means helping make the building, its design or renovation, kitchen equipment, furnishings, and community garden possible. It also means providing sustained operating support as we bring additional sponsors, monthly donors, and other funding partners on board.
Opening the doors is one part of the goal. Keeping them open reliably is just as essential.
We want our chefs to be able to cook, our team to welcome guests, and our neighbors to know breakfast and dinner will be there.
The amount, scope, and duration of that support would be developed together through a clear facility plan, startup budget, and operating plan. We would establish realistic milestones for growing other sources of funding.
A QUIET PARTNER WITH A LASTING IMPACT
You would not be expected to manage the restaurant, supervise volunteers, attend every event, or become its public spokesperson.
Our team would lead the work. Your support would help make it possible.
We’re looking for someone who finds meaning in knowing people are being fed, a garden is growing, and a community has somewhere to gather—even if the guests never know the donor’s name.
No ribbon-cutting speech required. No oversized check to hold. You can remain quietly generous while we handle the dishes.
GET TO KNOW THE MISSION
We invite you to meet our founder and chefs, experience a community meal, and hear the full vision.
Ask questions. Review the plans and financial needs. Decide whether this is something you want to help bring to life.
Public anonymity is welcome. You would still receive agreed-upon financial and impact updates, with appropriate donation records and accountability. Giving quietly should still mean knowing what your generosity is accomplishing.
This is a major philanthropic funding opportunity. We’re seeking someone who can help establish and sustain a permanent community restaurant while its wider circle of support grows.
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could quietly make something truly good happen,” we have a table—and a whole restaurant—we’d love to tell you about.
