Do you love working with animals? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of your neighbors with disabilities? Join the happy herd of volunteers at Halleck Creek Ranch!
Nestled in the idyllic rolling hills of West Marin, our team of highly trained staff, volunteers, and sweet therapy horses lead folks with disabilities of all ages on trail rides and through arena exercises as they work to build strength, confidence, and emotional connection. Tuesday through Saturday, our riders experience the joy of the human-animal connection in a safe and joyous environment that celebrates them.
Our programs are almost entirely volunteer run, so our professional team of over 100 volunteers are the key to our success! As a volunteer, you'll assist riders while on horseback as they practice their skills on the trail and in the arena. You'll walk alongside them and ensure their safety while engaging in meaningful conversation and other interactions.
Consistency and kindness are musts. There is also a certain level of physical fitness needed, as our trail rides are 2 miles long, and you could easily walk a mile or more during arena work as well. If you can do that, then you'll be well prepared to start your volunteer journey. You may be subject to some heat and cold depending on the time of the year, but generally our weather is quite mild.
