    Description

    Director of HR Management

    ABOUT FACE FRIENDS FOUNDATION

Face Friends Foundation, Incorporated is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing poverty and inequality through workforce development, food security, and community-driven economic equity.

We are building the Gwinnett International Workforce Academy — a commercial culinary incubator kitchen and digital literacy center opening March 1, 2027 in Sugar Hill, Georgia, serving Gwinnett County's most diverse communities and extending into Saint Mary, Jamaica through our International Volunteer Program.

We operate as a fully virtual, 100% all-volunteer organization. Our Volunteer Executive Staff are skilled professionals who bring real expertise to a real mission.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

Face Friends Foundation is seeking a Director of HR Management to build and own the human resources infrastructure for a 40-member all-volunteer executive staff operating across multiple time zones and geographies.

This is a permanent internal seat. We are not looking for someone to fill a gap temporarily — we are looking for an HR professional who wants to build a people system from the ground up inside a mission-driven organization and own it long-term.

The foundation has strong operational bones. What it needs is a director who brings HR discipline, policy clarity, and the professional judgment to handle sensitive people decisions with fairness and consistency.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

Policy Development & Maintenance Own the foundation's HR policy framework — volunteer conduct standards, grievance procedures, role transition protocols, and disciplinary guidelines. Keep policies current, accessible, and consistently applied.

Role Structure & Classification Partner with department directors to ensure every VES role has a clear job description, defined deliverables, and appropriate classification. No seat should exist without a purpose.

Performance & Accountability Build and maintain the accountability infrastructure — performance review cycles, role re-evaluation processes, and the escalation path for conduct or performance issues that reach the HR function.

Offboarding & Transitions Own every voluntary and involuntary departure — clean documentation, professional communication, and knowledge transfer where applicable. A well-managed exit protects the foundation's reputation and the departing member's dignity.

HR Records & Compliance Maintain organized, confidential HR records for every active VES member. Ensure the foundation's volunteer HR practices align with applicable nonprofit compliance standards.

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • Demonstrated HR experience — generalist, specialist, or people operations background in nonprofit, corporate, or public sector settings
    • aPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification preferred but not required
    • Strong judgment on sensitive people matters — you know how to be fair, firm, and discreet simultaneously
    • Comfort working in a fully virtual, asynchronous environment with a geographically distributed team
    • Strong written communication — policy documents and HR communications represent the foundation at its most formal
    • 2 to 3 hours per week on an ongoing basis

    WHAT YOU GAIN

Permanent Named Director Role A permanent seat on the Volunteer Executive Staff as Director of HR Management — real scope, real responsibility, real impact.

Build From the Ground Up The foundation's HR infrastructure is yours to design. You are not inheriting a bureaucracy — you are building a people system that will support the Gwinnett International Workforce Academy for years to come.

Direct Executive Access You report directly to the Executive Director and operate as part of the foundation's senior leadership layer.

Academy Seat Incentive After one year of verified service, you receive a fully funded seat in the Gwinnett International Workforce Academy — a curriculum covering nonprofit leadership, fundraising, financial management, organizational strategy, and community development.

Professional Recognition Your role, title, and tenure are verifiable on the foundation's official LinkedIn page.

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

This is a volunteer position. It is unpaid. Face Friends Foundation operates with an all-volunteer executive staff.

This is a director-level HR seat with real people decisions attached to it. We are not looking for someone learning HR — we are looking for an HR professional who wants to apply what they already know to a mission that matters.

If you are looking for paid employment this role is not the right fit. If you are an HR professional who wants a permanent leadership home where your discipline directly shapes how a nonprofit cares for its people — we want to hear from you.
