    Description

Nova Ukraine is an international nonprofit delivering strategic humanitarian initiatives in partnership with trusted teams across Ukraine. Since 2014, we’ve directed over $120 million toward aid for war-affected communities, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and civil society development. At Nova Ukraine, we turn aid into impact. We strengthen civil society and support high-impact initiatives that change lives — and we’re looking for people ready to make a meaningful impact alongside us.

We are looking for a Volunteer Copywriter to focus on long-form website content, turning real-time updates, program work, and field insights into clear, structured, and engaging articles.

    ✔ Primary focus:

    • 2 web articles per month (impact stories, explainers, field updates)

    ✔ Secondary support:

    • Contribute to newsletters and impact reports as needed

This is a bylined role, offering the opportunity to build a strong portfolio in nonprofit, humanitarian, and international communications.

    Why This Role Matters:

Our website is a key trust-building channel.

    ✔ Strong articles help:

    • Explain complex work across our four pillars (HEAL, BUILD, EMPOWER, ADVOCATE)
    • Show how immediate aid connects to long-term systems change
    • Support SEO/AEO visibility and content reuse across channels
    • Strengthen donor confidence and engagement

    What’s In It for You?

🎯 Published bylines on Nova Ukraine’s website

🌍 Experience in high-impact, mission-driven communications and marketing

📈 Portfolio development in longform and strategic content

🤝 Exposure to real-world humanitarian and international work

    What We’re Looking For:

✔ Strong longform writing ability (articles, blogs, reports)

✔ Ability to simplify complex topics without losing meaning

✔ Experience or interest in nonprofit, policy, or global issues writing

    ✔ Reliable, self-directed, and responsive

    What You’ll Do:

    ✔ Longform Content (Primary)

    • Write 2 structured web articles per month
    • Translate program updates into accessible, audience-focused stories
    • Connect individual stories to broader system-level impact

    ✔ Content Structuring & AEO

    • Write with clarity, flow, and strong narrative structure
    • Use headlines, subheads, and formatting for readability and search
    • Support content that can be adapted into email and social formats

    ✔ Research & Sourcing

    • Gather information from internal teams (Slack, docs, reports)
    • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with messaging

    ✔ Campaign Support (Secondary)

    • Assist with newsletter drafting or sections
    • Support impact report storytelling when needed

    Would be a plus:

✔ Basic understanding of SEO / content writing for web

    ✔ Ukrainian language skills

✔ Experience with impact storytelling or reporting

    Volunteer conditions:

    ✔ Volunteer (unpaid)

    ✔ Remote, flexible schedule

    ✔ ~5 hours/week + attending bi-weekly meetings

    ✔ Minimum 3-month commitment

✔ Tools: Google Docs, Slack, Asana
