Director of Applications & Platforms – Volunteer Leadership Role

    Director of Applications & Platforms

    (Product & Engineering Division Head)

    The Donovan’s Venom

Remote | Senior Leadership | Volunteer

We’re Building — And It Needs Products That Work

    The Donovan’s Venom is evolving.

    Programs.

    Platforms.

    Experiences.

All of it depends on strong, scalable applications.

We are seeking a Director of Applications & Platforms to lead the design, development, and delivery of all software applications across the organization.

Because if the product doesn’t work — nothing else does.

    The Role

This is the leader responsible for all applications and digital platforms across the organization.

From product vision → engineering → delivery → integration → scale — you own it.

You are not just managing developers.

You are building a connected product ecosystem that powers everything we do.

This role operates at the intersection of product management, software engineering, and platform strategy, ensuring all applications are scalable, user-centered, and aligned with the mission.

    What You’ll Own

    Application & Platform Strategy

      • Define and execute strategy for all applications and platforms
      • Build and manage product roadmaps for:
      • Internal systems
      • External platforms (including EdTech solutions)
      • Align products with user needs, mission, and technology architecture

    Software Development & Engineering Leadership

      • Lead development of:
      • Web platforms
      • Learning systems
      • Internal tools
      • Establish structured development workflows (Agile, sprints)
      • Ensure quality, performance, and timely delivery

    Product Management & User Experience

      • Ensure applications are intuitive and user-centered
      • Oversee UX/UI design and user journey optimization
      • Incorporate user feedback into product improvements

    Platform Integration & Ecosystem Alignment

      • Integrate systems across:
      • Interactive Media
      • Animation & Media
      • Educational Products
      • IT infrastructure
      • Ensure seamless data flow and system connectivity

    Collaboration with IT & Security

      • Partner with IT Operations to ensure infrastructure alignment
      • Partner with Information Security to ensure secure development
      • Align development, operations, and security practices

    Automation & Workflow Optimization

      • Lead development of automation solutions
      • Improve operational efficiency and system workflows
      • Reduce manual processes across systems

    Platform Support & Maintenance

      • Oversee ongoing application support and maintenance
      • Ensure systems remain stable, reliable, and up to date
      • Monitor performance and usage

    Team Leadership & Development

      • Lead engineers, designers, and product contributors
      • Define roles, workflows, and expectations
      • Build a culture of accountability and innovation

    Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement

      • Track:
      • Application performance
      • Feature adoption
      • User engagement
      • Improve product quality and development processes

    Technology Innovation & Future Planning

      • Stay ahead of emerging technologies
      • Identify opportunities to enhance platforms
      • Contribute to long-term technology strategy

    Who This Is For

This role is for someone who:

      • Thinks in products, systems, and scale
      • Can lead both engineering and product teams
      • Understands how to build applications from concept → delivery → iteration
      • Can balance innovation, usability, and technical feasibility
      • Sees technology as a driver of mission and growth

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 5+ years in software development, product management, or platform engineering

      • Strong understanding of:
      • Software development lifecycles
      • System architecture
      • UX/UI principles

    Preferred

      • Experience in SaaS, EdTech, or digital product environments
      • Experience with APIs, integrations, and cloud platforms

      • Experience in remote teams
