Organization: Apostolic Voice Education Trust (AVET)

Apostolic Voice Education Trust (AVET) is a registered nonprofit organization based in Zambia. We are building the Community Mental Health & First Aid (CMHFA) Digital Platform, a mobile and web platform designed to expand access to mental health education, community support, training, and digital learning across Zambia and, ultimately, Africa.

We are seeking passionate volunteer software developers to join our founding technology team. Whether you are a student, recent graduate, or experienced professional, this is an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful open-source style project with real social impact.

    • Contribute to clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
    • Collaborate with other volunteers through GitLab.
    • Participate in code reviews and testing.
    • Help improve the user experience and platform performance.
    • Attend occasional online team meetings.
    • Support the development of a secure, scalable digital platform.

    • Dart
    • Firebase
    • Mobile App Development
    • UI/UX Design
    • Quality Assurance & Testing
    • Git/GitLab
    • Technical Documentation
    • API Integration

Don't worry if you don't meet every requirement—we value enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and commitment to our mission.

    What You'll Gain

    • Experience contributing to a real-world nonprofit technology project.
    • Collaboration with an international volunteer team.
    • Opportunities to build your portfolio and strengthen your technical skills.
    • Mentorship through peer collaboration and code reviews.
    • Recognition for meaningful contributions.
    • A Volunteer Service Certificate for eligible contributors.
    • The opportunity to help improve access to community mental health services across Africa.

    How We Work

Development is managed through GitLab using feature branches and merge requests. Production systems are protected, and contributors work through a structured review process to ensure quality and security.
