Overview of the Role:
Effective Advisory Boards provide strategic and compliance guidance and know-how that is contextualized to the needs of a nonprofit in a range of community and business settings.
Advisory Board Members (ABMs), along with the Chair and Co-Chair, should use their areas of expertise to support the organization in achieving agreed expectations, guaranteeing mission and vision statements are pursued, and ensuring the sustainability of the institution through expert advice to the Founder and Fiduciary Board. ABMs are not Directors, and thus, do not have the right to vote, have no decision-making power, and cannot instruct the organization to act. The Board of Directors (BoDs) can take or discard their advice as they see fit.
Good Corporate Governance practice is a major attribute for the role. This role requires a time commitment of approximately 20–30 hours per month, including planning and participation in Advisory Board meetings, which may be held monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly, as determined by the Chair.
Main Responsibilities:
🤝 Ready to Get Involved?
