    Description

OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION is a new kind of media outlet. We're nonpartisan, we believe in truth, we're all very civil, we just want to solve problems. Republicans, Democrats, Independents -- all are welcome here.

We are largely run by student interns, and we now want "more adults in the room." We seek 3-4 volunteers with real editorial/media experience. One will serve as director; 2-3 others will serve as assistant directors.

We have some very exciting projects in various states of readiness, but we have a hard time pushing them over the finish line. Students are eager to please. Once they know what to do, they will generally do it. That's where you come in. You will have a team of interns reporting to you, but they really need a "take charge" leader to provide guidance and direction. You will mentor them; they will learn from you.

    Editorial Director

      • Attends meetings and communicates with team throughout the week using Slack, zoom, email, Google Drive
      • Helps with recruiting, team building, team management
      • Possesses experience in editorial management tasks/duties
      • Good with creative ideas students can follow
      • Oversees student team leaders
      • Can commit to 1 year of volunteer work (4-8 hours per week)
      • You will be an important "face" of the organization.

Our student editorial team currently meets Fridays via Zoom in the afternoon. We meet at 2:30 p.m. (PST) Fridays, but we are trying to start an hour or two -- or maybe three -- earlier. Some of our teammates on the east coast find the current meeting time to be a tad too late in the day. This meeting usually runs around 40 minutes. You will need to be able to attend our weekly meeting if you want to pursue this.

You will get outstanding experience -- plus you'll be doing something good for America. You will be helping develop America's future leaders and together we can help reduce toxic partisanship in America.

ONC's CEO worked for the Kansas City Star, the LA Times, the White House and he also started several print and digital media outlets. He has big hopes for what ONC could become, but he recognizes he needs help. With the right leadership, this could turn into something big.

If we raise money, our intent is to start paying people, at least on a part-time basis, so this could turn into something more. Our ability to raise money will largely be a function of how good a job we're doing, so everyone's contribution matters. We think, with one big push, 2026 could be our breakout year.
