    Description

    Duration of assignment: 6 months Start date: As soon as possible

    This is a 6-month assignment in Dakar, Senegal.

    The assignment is part of the Equality in Action Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP), which is being rolled out across around ten countries in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East over an eight-year period (2020–2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organisations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalised people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls and vulnerable and marginalised people at the heart of all its work.

    Here is what your day-to-day work will look like:

    • Working closely with members of the Oxfam team in Senegal and the organisation Handicapformeduc, your role will involve:
    • Contributing to the updating and management of the organisation’s website and social media pages.
    • Support the creation of written, graphic and audiovisual content for communication materials and social media (photos, videos, infographics).
    • Build the skills of team members in managing and running the organisation’s social media accounts. Analyse the partner organisation’s digital communication tools and strategies.
    • Train the partner’s staff in the use of digital communication tools and create a photo and video library to showcase activities.

    For this role, you must:

    • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
    • Hold a university degree in communication, digital communication and social media, or any other relevant field;
    • Have experience in social media management, strategic communication or any other related field;
    • Be proficient in the use of desktop publishing software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) to design a variety of print and digital materials;
    • Be fluent in spoken and written French; knowledge of the local language is an asset; Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Skype, Teams and Zoom;
    • Experience in international development (an asset).
