    Description

Monthly Community Space Maintenance: Saturday, September 26th, 2026

Join us for Monthly Maintenance Day at the Mid Shooks Run Community Garden!

Near the end of each month during the growing season, volunteers gather for a few hours to help care for the shared spaces that keep the garden thriving. These workdays are an important part of maintaining a healthy, welcoming garden for everyone who grows, volunteers, and visits here.

Volunteers will work alongside garden members and leaders to complete seasonal tasks that support the overall health and organization of the garden. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or brand new to volunteering, there’s always something helpful you can do.

    Responsibilities

Tasks vary depending on the time of year but may include:

    • Weeding shared garden areas and pathways
    • Spreading mulch or compost
    • Maintaining common beds and pollinator areas
    • Tidying tool areas and shared spaces
    • Light landscaping and garden upkeep
    • General garden cleanup

Garden leaders will provide guidance and help volunteers get set up with a team and task.

    Qualifications

No gardening experience is required. Ideal volunteers will:

    • Be comfortable working outdoors for a few hours
    • Be willing to participate in light to moderate physical activity
    • Follow basic safety instructions
    • Enjoy working with others in a community environment

    What to Bring

    If possible, please bring:

    • Work gloves
    • Closed-toe shoes
    • Water bottle
    • Sun protection (hat or sunscreen)

Tools are helpful but not required. We will have some available.

    Why Volunteer?

Monthly Maintenance Days are a great way to:

    • Support a local community garden and the community it serves
    • Spend time outdoors
    • Meet neighbors and fellow volunteers
    • Learn basic gardening skills
    • Make a visible impact in just a few hours
