Position: PR & Communications Specialist

Status: Volunteer

Role Summary: The PR Specialist serves as the primary storyteller for YourPassion1st. This role is responsible for increasing the organization’s visibility, managing media relations, and ensuring that the success stories of our youth participants reach the widest possible audience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Media Outreach: Draft and distribute online releases, media kits, and story pitches to local news outlets, blogs, and radio stations.
• Storytelling: Collaborate with program leads to capture and share the "YourPassion1st story" through diverse media channels.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure a consistent and professional voice across the website, social media, and newsletters.
• Digital Presence: Support the marketing team in optimizing the organization’s online presence to attract donors and volunteers.
• Strategic Networking: Secure guest spots on podcasts or speaking opportunities for leadership to highlight the organization’s impact.

Qualifications:

• Professional background in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Familiarity with the Chicago media landscape and digital marketing trends.
