A New Mission: Serve Those Who Served - Veteran Volunteers Needed for Veteran Hospice Patients

You answered the call to duty once and we thank you. Now we invite you to answer it again.

We are seeking compassionate veterans to provide companionship, support, and a unique camaraderie to hospice patients who share your distinguished background. Your understanding, born from shared experience, can bring immense comfort and relief to a veteran and their family during this final chapter of life.

Veteran Hospice volunteers offer something truly powerful to our veteran patients: presence.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities whether it be providing a visit once a month to a Veteran for companionship or honoring Veterans in a nursing home by presenting awards during an honor ceremony. Depending on your skillset, interests, and availability, we can tailor the Volunteer role exactly to you!

By sharing your time and compassion, you can bring comfort and support to veterans during a meaningful stage of life in the following ways:

      • Provide Companionship: Visit with a patient, which may include reading, talking, listening to music, assisting with light activities, or simply being a reassuring presence by their bedside.
      • Document Life Stories: Talk with patients and learn their life stories, documenting them to provide a lasting legacy for their families.
      • Respect and Compassionate: Focus on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgments so that veterans can be guided through their life stories – as only one veteran can do for another.
      • Be a Team Member: Serve as a vital part of the hospice team, following a collaborative Plan of Care.

Our goal is to meet all the needs of our Nations Heroes and Veteran Volunteers are an essential part in meeting those needs. There is no advanced medical training required, just a willingness to give back! We would love to have you as a part of the team!
