    Description

The Worldview Project is looking to expand its Board of Directors. We already have a board representing a variety of backgrounds and perspectives and would like to further diversify the board ethnically and culturally while adding members with skills and experience that can help foster the organization’s growth, development, and long-term leadership.

We are looking for people who can complement the considerable professional expertise already represented on our board by bringing experience that will help the organization grow and develop. We are particularly interested in candidates with substantive experience in fundraising, grant development, donor cultivation, institutional relationship-building, nonprofit leadership, or organizational growth.

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

      • Strongly embrace the Worldview Project’s mission of promoting cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and engagement.
      • Have substantive experience in fundraising, grant development, donor cultivation, institutional relationship-building, nonprofit leadership, organizational growth, or related areas.
      • Live in the San Diego area.
      • Work collaboratively and contribute constructively as part of a team.
      • Have the time and capacity to contribute actively beyond regular board meetings, bringing their experience, relationships, and professional strengths to areas where they can materially advance the organization’s growth and development.
      • Are interested in helping shape the organization’s future and potentially moving into a board leadership role.

Board members share responsibility for the governance and long-term well-being of the organization. We are looking for people who can bring their skills and experience to bear on the organization’s growth, particularly in areas such as fundraising, grant development, strategic outreach, organizational development, and other areas where they can make a direct and practical contribution.

The board meets four Sundays each year, with meetings held in person in San Diego. Zoom participation is available when a member cannot attend in person, but in-person attendance is strongly preferred. Board members are also expected to lend a hand at major public events and to attend two or three informal social gatherings each year, giving board, staff, and other members of the organization opportunities to spend time together and get to know one another better.

The time commitment varies according to a member’s role and the ways in which they contribute. In addition to the four board meetings, members should have sufficient availability to bring their talents and experience to organizational priorities between meetings and to participate in major events and occasional social gatherings.

At present, there is no required financial contribution for board members. Many members do choose to support the organization financially, but we welcome people whose contributions may take many forms.

Board members serve 1 year terms.

Board service with the Worldview Project offers an opportunity to become meaningfully involved in a long-established San Diego nonprofit at an important point in its development. New members will have the opportunity not simply to provide oversight, but to help expand the organization’s capacity and contribute to its long-term growth and leadership.
