    Description

    General / Office Volunteer (Wednesdays)

Angels for Action is looking for a dependable, longer-term volunteer to join our team on Wednesday evenings.

We are a small, volunteer-led nonprofit, and we're looking for someone who can commit to at least 3–6 months and become a familiar part of our team.

Our work is flexible and can change from week to week. You may focus on one area or help with several different tasks depending on the day's needs and your interests. And depending how many volunteers are in that same timeframe. We enjoy giving volunteers opportunities to learn and try different things when time allows.

Wednesday schedule: Typically 5:00 PM –8:00 PM, with flexibility on how long you stay. The most important part is being available to open the office; minimum commitment is approximately 1.5 hours.

    Possible activities could include:

    • Helping with our outdoor donation and community resource table. Sharing information about our programs and partner resources
    • Assisting with ESL class setup and student registration
    • Helping with office reception, walk-ins, and follow-ups
    • Organizing paperwork, binders, and basic data
    • Sorting and labeling donations
    • Helping keep the office organized

We're looking for someone who is:

    • Organized and dependable
    • Comfortable talking with people from different backgrounds
    • Comfortable with basic technology, email, and data entry
    • Good at keeping track of paperwork and details
    • Open-minded, patient, and willing to learn
    • Resourceful and comfortable taking initiative
    • Comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change

A Different Kind of Volunteer Environment

As a small, volunteer-led organization, our work can change quickly and isn't always highly structured. We provide guidance, but volunteers should be comfortable learning as they go, taking initiative, asking questions, and being resourceful.

You don't need to know how to do everything listed—most things can be learned if you're comfortable with a flexible environment.

We are in the middle of restructuring, so things may seem slow the next month but they can easily ramp up as your volunteer service will help us keep our office hours open consistently for this day/time.

If you're a Federal Work-Study student, we may also be able to work with your college to explore a community placement work.

    Directions

Limited onsite parking (spaces 1-8 on right side of building) during business hours but more open after 5pm.

There is also street parking (free after 6pm) or a nearby train parking (free on weekends + nights).

Unfortunately parking is not great in this area, street parking would be the easiest option most of the time.
