    Description

    About Translation Commons

Translation Commons is a nonprofit public charity dedicated to providing a reliable and scalable method for digitally rendering languages. Our mission is to solve the problem of unrepresented languages struggling to participate in a global communications network, and since 2015, we have successfully helped digitize numerous endangered languages.

    Overview

We are looking for a proactive Social Media Content Manager volunteer to strengthen Translation Commons’ presence on social platforms, with a primary focus on LinkedIn and Facebook. This role focuses on planning and managing content, developing engaging rubrics, and helping grow awareness, traffic, and community engagement.

The Social Media Content Manager will have ownership of specific content rubrics and the opportunity to suggest and launch new ones aligned with marketing goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and develop content for LinkedIn and Facebook (main priority).
    • Own and run selected content rubrics (e.g., volunteer stories, project highlights, educational posts).
    • Plan and schedule posts in collaboration with the Marketing Team.
    • Write clear, engaging posts aligned with TC tone and goals.
    • Suggest and test new content rubrics and formats to improve engagement and reach.
    • Work with designers and analysts to improve post performance (visuals, metrics, insights).
    • Monitor basic performance (engagement, clicks) and suggest improvements.

    Ideal Skills

    • Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook).
    • Strong writing skills in clear, simple English (B1–B2+).
    • Ability to think in content formats and rubrics, not just single posts.
    • Basic understanding of engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments).
    • Ability to commit around 5 hours per week and meet deadlines.
    • Interest in nonprofit work, storytelling, or digital communities.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with Instagram, Reddit, or other platforms.
    • Experience with content planning tools or simple analytics.
    • Creative ideas for growing and engaging online communities.
